Following the completion of a number of bulk materials handling projects at a UK pet food ingredients manufacturer C J Waterhouse were contracted to supply a mobile system to permit the manufacture of a specific grade of ingredients.
The requirement was to provide a system that would reduce the particle size of blended raw ingredients and automatically fill bulk bags by volume. Material is fed to the system by one of the three previously supplied bulk hopper discharge systems and the unit needed to be removable to allow other mobile filling and bagging equipment to be utilised.
The resultant machine comprised of a buffer hopper with integrated discharge screw feeder. The discharge feeder provides a controlled flow of material to the downstream cone mill which in turn discharges directly into the suspended bulk bag located below the mill discharge chute.
The milling system reduces the particle size and the bulk bags are filled volumetrically via the screw rotation monitoring system.
